Hola,

Se suponía que este fin de semana que pasó nos íbamos a acampar. Pues bien, con el timing que nos caracteriza,  después de varias semanas sanos, Bea se anduvo enfermando el miércoles de un resfrío leve que todavía nos permitía ir. Max, para no ser menos, decidió hacer lo mismo el viernes, pero en su caso le puso color y lo hizo con su poco de fiebre. Entonces, obviamente tuvimos que abortar la misión.

Como el lunes se sintieran mejor e hiciera un poco más de calor, decidimos hacer un par  de mini excursiones.

La primera fue a McDonald Forest, donde recorrimos un bosquecillo por un rato. Luego  en la tarde, subimos a Mary’s Peak desde donde  se puede ver todo el valle y las montañas Cascades en la distancia.

No sacamos fotos de la primera excursión, pero sí lo hicimos en la segunda, a las que pueden acceder en el link de arriba.

We had planned to go camping during the last weekend. Of course, with our characteristic timing, and after several weeks perfectly healthy, Bea got a cold on wednesday. Since it seemed just a cold, we decided to go anyway. However, Max followed due course on friday, but in his case with fever and moore fuzzy. Obviously, at least for us, we called it quits.

Since come monday they felt noticeably better, we had a couple of excursions anyway. First we went to MacDonald Forest for a quit stroll through the woods. And in the afternoon we went to Mary’s Peak,  from where you can see the whole valley  and the Cascades.

Though we didn’t take pictures in the morning, we did so in the afternoon and  you can see them in the link above.

Para continuar con la tradicion, subimos algunos comentarios de los ninos:

• Bea y las vacas: Fuimos a ver las vacas el domingo, y justo era tiempo de ordegnarlas, asi que Xime le trato de comentar donde estaban las ubres y que es lo que iban a hacer. Despues le comento acaso recordaba cuando ella le daba leche a Max, a lo que Bea respondio: No mama, tu no tienes tus pechos en el popo.
• Palabras de Max a los 14 meses: Tan parlanchin como la Bea no es, pero para acordarnos en el futuro, Max dice claramente: Oh oh(cuando algo se cae), Bye, Oside (outside, indicando que quiere salir), dog (a veces), e imita los sonidos de las vacas (mmm, no muu) y de los leones (roarr, este ultimo moviendo la mano como si fuera una garra). Ah, tambien dice “ma”, cuando quiere mas comida.

To continue with the new tradition, we post some new comments made by the kids.

•  Bea and the cows: We went to the cow farm on Sunday, and it was about time to milk the cows. Xime tried to explain Bea what they were doing, and that she could drink that milk. After that, she tried to relate to her the milking with the times when she nursed Max. Bea immediately responded: : No mommy, you don’t have breasts in your popo (butt)
• Max words @ 14 mo: He is not as talkative as Bea, but he is expressing himself more clearly: Oh oh(something dropped ), Bye, “Oside” (outside, he wants to go out), dog (sometimes), and he mimicks the sounds of cows (mmm, no muu) and lions (roarr, while moving his arm like a claw). Ah, he also says “ma”, when he wants more food.

Conversando con Xime, nos dimos cuenta que es fácil olvidarse de las gracias y comentarios graciosos de los niños, así que de ahora en adelante, para acordarnos nosotros y poder contarles a ellos en el futuro, los publicaremos acá. Estos son algunos atrasados, pero es para ponernos al día:

•  Todas las noches, al terminar de rezar, le habíamos enseñado a Bea a pedirle al Niño Jesús por la familia. Un día se quedó pensando harto rato y dijo: Niño Jesús, por favor cuida del Hombre del Sombrero Amarillo. (El hombre del sombrero amarillo es quien cuida de Curious George, un personaje de historietas que le gusta mucho a ella)
• Bea pide permiso para salir a jugar al patio. Nosotros estabámos ocupados, así que Xime le dice que no podemos porque nadie la va a poder cuidar. Ella responde El Niño Jesús me va a cuidar. Problema resuelto!
• Max estaba enfermo y vomitaba como loco. Bea veía con desesperación que no tenía mucha atención para ella, así que nos da la solución a la enfermedad de Max: Si salimos al patio, Max se va a sentir mejor.

Eso por ahora

Talking with Ximena, we realized how easily we can forget some funny or touching moments from our kids among the miriad of events taking place everyday in our lives. In an attempt to prevent that, from now on we will write here things that we think are worth remembering. We’ll start with a few moments from Bea:

•  Every night, when we were about to finish our prayings, Bea had the chance to ask Baby Jesus to take care of everyone else in the family. One night, she took an extra long pause and said : Baby Jesus, please take care of the Man with the Yellow Hat. For those of you who don’t know him, he is the guy who takes care of Curious George, the character of a very popular series of books for kids.
• Bea was asking for permission to play outside in the playground. Xime had told her that we were doing chores and no one could take care of her. When we asked who could do it, she said: 

  Baby Jesus is going to take care of me. I guess she is right…

• Max was very sick and throwing up all over the place. Bea noted that she wasn’t getting a lot of attention, so she came up with a solution to all our trouble: If we go to the playground, Max is going to feel better.

Siguiendo con la nueva tendencia de publicar más seguido, les mostramos acá lo último ocurrido este fin de semana. Dado que ha hecho harto calor, hemos tenido que sacar uñas y garras para defendernos, incluyendo unos aspersores pequeñitos. Aprovechando además de que la casa tiene un patio de pasto, es practicamente chutear y abrazarse. A Max hubo que sacarlo con orden judicial del agua.

Además, incluimos unas fotos de la socialite Beatriz.

Hi!

To keep up with the trend of lately, we have updated the site again. This time we have a few pictures displaying our resourcefullness regarding hot-weather defense. We got a few sprinklers, and taking advantage of the lawn we have next to the house, everything was set up in a matter of seconds. Max enjoyed it so much, we had to take him out while shivering.

After that, Beatriz, our new socialite, served us a delicious five’clok tea!

Pensando en aquellos debiles de corazon que se asustarian de ver 5 posts en Mayo,decidimos calmar las cosas y publicar una unica galleria con varios eventos:

• 03 de Mayo: Daycare Social: Todos los papas fuimos con camara en mano a ver a los enanos cantar y bailar en el daycare. Fue una locura, asi que solo unas poquitas fotos.
• 13 de Mayo: ISOSU Spring Festival: La asociacion de estudiantes internacionales tuvo un festival de musica, comida y variedades de parte de los paises miembros. Si hubiesen visto la cara de Bea cuando los dragones chinos se le acercaron!
• 18 de Mayo: Garlands: Fuimos de paseo con Bea al Jardin Garlands, como paseo mensual del daycare.

In an effort to avoid overwhelming those of fainted hearts, we decided to post all the May events in a single gallery, where we combine:

• May 03 : Daycare Social: All parents went with their finest camera gear to capture the little ones singing and dancing! It was packed, so we took just a few pictures.
• May 13: ISOSU Spring Festival: The international students association organized this festival with food, music and traditions from the member countries. You should have seen Bea’s face when the chinese dragons came by!
• May 18: Garlands Nursery: As our monthly fieldtrip with daycare, we went to this nursery to enjoy the scent of the blossoming flowers.

Ja!

No habíamos publicado nada en dos meses y ahora tienen dos artículos en una semana!
Este sábado fuimos a la facultad de Medicia Veterinaria a ver los animales, y de paso Bea y Max aprovecharon de tocarlos un poquito, lo que es bueno, para que se vayan acostumbrando! Nos habían dicho de que iba a haber un guepardo, pero al final se funó. Igual, hartos perros y otras hierbas.

We didn’t post in over two months and now you have two posts in a week!
This past saturday we wento the Vet School Open House, and Bea and Max took the chance to pet more animals. WE had big expectations, because we were told that there was going to be a cheetah!, but it didn’t work. Anyway, lots of dogs and other stuff.

Hola a todos,
No es porque no hemos sacado fotos, sino porque hemos estado bien ocupados moviendonos de un lado para otro y a veces se ha hecho dificil actualizar la pagina, asi que aqui va algo para que disfruten todos con los hechos de el ultimo mes y medio. Hagan click en las fotos mas abajo para acceder a:

• La visita de Magoo: Con variadas actividades que hicimos en los dias en que ella anduvo por aca.
• El cumple de Max (11 de Abril): Si, el guaton tiene un agno ya, y para celebrarlo fuimos a Salem al carrusel y a al Gilbert’s museum de ciencia.
• El festival de tulipanes (22 de  Abril):   Xime estaba como loca por ir, y al final logramos escaparnos el ultimo dia. Claro que no sin que pasara algo entremedio. Habiamos sacado como 100 fotos cuando nos dimos cuenta que  la camara estaba sin la tarjeta de memoria. Menos mal que  estaba en el auto asi que pudimos re-sacar algunas!:oops:
• AG feast (29 de Abirl): Fuimos de nuevo a Salem esta vez a ver el Agricultural Feast, donde Bea aprovecho de tocar a los animalitos!

The reason we haven’t posted in so long is that we have been busy taking pictures and trying to keep the kids entertained, but now we are finally updating the site with a lot of pictures. You can acces them individually by clicking in the pictures below. The galleries are:

• Magoo’s visit: Pato’s mother came from Chile and we did a lot of things with her.
• Max’s b-day (April 11): Yep! He is one now. We went to Salem to the carrousel and the A.C. Gilbert’s museum.
• Tulip Festival (April 22): Xime was anxious to go, and we finally did the day before closing. We had “taken” about 100 pictures when we realized th camera didn’t have the memory card on. Luckily it was in the car, so we were able to retake some of them.
• AG feast (April 29): Again in Salem, we went to the agricultural feast and Bea took the chance to pet some animals, while Max tried to escape away.

Hola,Max cumplió once meses hoy y como hacia calorcillo, aprovechamos el dia para ir a un parque para que jugaran. Ademas, aprovechamos de subir algunas otras fotos de Marzo.

Hi,Max turned 11 and we took advantage of the warmer weather to spent some time at one of the parks. Lots of sand and weather, and plenty of fun. We also posted some other pictures from early March.
